Anne Thurston, OBE Director |

Dr Thurston, founder of the Trust, is a pioneer in defining international solutions for the management of public sector records. Both as an academic and as a programme director, she has extensive experience of working with many different governments to provide practical solutions for strengthening record-keeping systems. Her groundbreaking survey of record-keeping systems across the Commonwealth resulted in the establishment of pilot projects to restructure records systems in The Gambia and Ghana, and she established the Trust in 1989 to develop and extend this work. In developing the Trust, Dr Thurston drew on her extensive experience in the records and archives field. Between 1970 and 1980, she worked in Kenya, where she conducted research and was employed by the Government of Kenya in the National Archives before joining the staff of the School of Library, Archive and Information Studies at University College London in 1980. There she developed the Masters’ in Records and Archives Management (International) and was a Reader in International Records Studies. She served as a member of the UK Lord Chancellor’s Advisory Council on Public Records between 1994 and 2000; and in 2000 she was awarded an OBE for services to public administration in Africa; she received a lifetime achievement award from the UK Records Management Society in 2006. Currently, she serves on the international advisory panel for the Endangered Archives Programme, which is administered by the British Library on behalf of the Lisbet Arcadia Trust (formerly the Lisbet Rausing Charitable Fund).

Andrew Griffin, Deputy Director |

A senior records, archives and information manager with 30 years of UK and international experience, Mr Griffin joined the Trust in 1997 and was appointed Deputy Director in 2002. Previously, he had a wide range of international experience, working as an archivist/records manager for the India Office Library and Records, the University of Papua New Guinea, the British Library, the Cayman Islands National Archive and Barts Hospital in London. Between 2002 and 2004 he served a two year appointment as Records Manager with the International Monetary Fund in Washington DC, where he led a major improvement programme to introduce standards and procedures for managing records, both paper and electronic. While working at the Trust, Mr Griffin has managed and contributed to a range of large projects in The Gambia, Ghana, Tanzania, Belize and the East African Community as well as many short-term projects. He is directly involved in the Trust's international capacity building programmes, and as a manager and a consultant, he is actively involved in designing and implementing practical solutions to records and information management problems, particularly in relation to financial, human resource, hospital and legal records. He is a member of the Trust's Research Team on the Building Integrity in Public Sector Information Systems Project.

Carol Eden, Project Coordinator |

Carol Eden worked in the private business sector for many years before becoming involved in managing and coordinating projects in the international voluntary and UN sectors, including work with the World Health Organisation and the International Planned Parenthood Federation. She has particular expertise in planning and supporting the implementation and monitoring of field of projects as well as in and in costing and in budget management. She joined the Trust in November 1998 as a project coordinator and has coordinated many wide-ranging projects, at both the global and country level. These include large-scale projects in The Gambia and Sierra Leone and the multi-year World Bank-funded project Evidence-Based Governance in the Electronic Age. She participates in the preparation of project proposals and negotiations for project contracts. She has responsibility for managing the Trust's support to the Association of Commonwealth Archivists and Records Managers (ACARM) and edits and produces the ACARM Newsletter with the Honorary Secretary.

Janet Madriaga, Accounts and Office Assistant |

Janet Madriaga is a trained accounting technician (Association of Accounting Technicians NVQ Levels 2, 3 and 4) with a background in accounts and office administration. She manages the Trust's day-to-day finance and accounting operations, as well as undertaking general administrative duties for the Trust. She supports the management team on financial management and forecasting, and provides administrative support for all colleagues. In addition, she looks after the subscriptions and accounts for the Association of Commonwealth Archivists and Records Managers (ACARM) and assists with the printing and distribution of its newsletter. |

Clive Goldstein |

Clive Goldstein has an MBA from Manchester Business School and was Finance Director for an SME company for many years. He serves as a consultant to the Trust on all financial matters. He is responsible for overseeing monthly management accounts, monitoring project budget activity, maintaining and improving Trust financial management procedures and ensuring that financial reports meet audit and management requirements. |

Andy Strange |

Andy Strange provides IT support to the Trust and is responsible for the sourcing and maintenance of the Trust’s ICT infrastructure and systems, as well as troubleshooting and resolving issues with hardware and software. He is an independent IT consultant with extensive experience of IT procurement, implementation and maintenance in the corporate sector. |

Research Associates
Pino Akotia |
|

|
Dr Akotia has researched and published widely on records and information management. His particular area of expertise is financial records. He has recently completed a period as Head of the Department of Information Studies at the University of Ghana, where he continues to serve as a senior lecturer in records management. Dr Akotia has worked with the Trust on a wide range of projects, particularly in Africa in the Caribbean, that have involved strengthening records management systems and building capacity. He played a leading role in education and training programmes developed by the Association of Commonwealth Archivists and Records Managers and by the Trust in the 1990s. Recently, he has served as the lead consultant supporting a project to rebuild personnel records systems in relation to payroll control in Sierra Leone. He is a member of the Trust’s Building Integrity in Public Sector Information Systems Research Team.

Michael Hoyle, Project Manager |

Michael Hoyle the Trust’s Project Manager and Lead Researcher for the Building Integrity in Public Sector Information Systems project. A New Zealand born Australian based in Seattle, Michael has a Masters degree in Information Management and Systems from Monash University in Australia. Prior to moving to Seattle in 2005, he was the Group Manager, Government Recordkeeping at Archives New Zealand. He has also worked in various information management and other roles in several government agencies in Australasia, including ten years at Archives New Zealand and six years at the National Archives of Australia. Michael has been a council member of the Archives and Records Association of New Zealand (1996 to 1999) and served the Association of Commonwealth Archivists and Records Managers (ACARM) as Deputy Chair (2000 to 2002) and as Chair (2002 to 2004). He also served the Pacific Branch of the International Council on Archives (PARBICA) as Secretary General (2002 to 2003) and President (2003 to 2004).

Justus Wamukoya |

Dr Wamukoya has researched and published widely on issues relating to records and information management. As a senior member of staff of the National Archives Kenya and as Head of the Department of Archives and Records Management in the Faculty of Information Sciences at Moi University (Kenya), he gained wide experience of records management issues. He has been Senior Lecturer at the Department of Library and Information Studies at the University of Botswana since 2003, and he has published widely on records and information management. Dr Wamukoya has been involved in a numerous Trust projects in Africa, including work in strengthening records management systems in Tanzania and building records management capacity in Africa. He provided support for the development of the Trust's Records Management Capacity Assessment System (RMCAS) software tool. He plays an active role in the development of the East and Southern African Regional Branch of the International Council on Archives, and he is a member of the Trust's Research Team on Building Integrity in Public Sector Information Systems. |
